We had a wonderful and busy two days at Glendalough for our Heritage Buildings Show 2015. In total we had 24 different stands and a host of traditional skills demonstrators. This was all complemented by hourly talks in the nearby Glendalough Hotel where over the course of 13  lectures we were informed on everything from  looking after sash windows and improving energy efficiency to the stone cutting tradition at Ballyknockan and the buildings associated with mining in Wicklow.

The aim of the event was to support the  owners of historic properties in looking after them and to provide an opportunity for everyone interested in this area to meet and exchange information.

This  Heritage Plan project was hosted jointly by the Irish Georgian Society and the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council and supported by the Heritage Council and the OPW.

These photos below give a flavour of the weekend. You may be interested in checking out the advice series of publications available online from the Department of Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht department's website , which provide an excellent resource for anybody looking after an older building or just looking for more information on this subject.
