Volunteer Tree Planters Needed to Create Native Woodland

Would you like to get some fresh air, get your hands dirty and help plant some trees? If so, then come along to the Native Woodland Trust volunteer day on Saturday 10th December 2016 at the NWT Laragh Woodland.

The Native Woodland Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection of Ireland’s rare native and ancient woodland. The Trust achieves this by setting up woodland reserves around the country, such as the Laragh reserve. This reserves network allows the Trust to protect existing woodland as well as plant new native woodland for the future. Part of the work we do involves running educational and fun events for our members and the public to encourage more people to use their local woodlands.

We need lots of volunteers to help us continue planting a native woodland in the beautiful Wicklow mountains. Tree planting is a fun way to spend a couple of hours with beautiful views. You don’t need to have any experience- we’ll show you what to do! There is a short, steep slope to get to the site and so this is not suitable for everyone. This event is weather dependent. We provide the tools but make sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear.

Don’t forget to bring along a snack and a drink! The more the merrier so bring your friends!

The meeting point for this event will be at 11am at Trooperstown Forest car park. For a map and further details please check our website www.nativewoodlandtrust.ie or the events section of our Facebook page. This event is weather dependent. For more details please contact Rebecca at rebecca.doyle@nativewoodlandtrust.ie or on 087 9619083.

Meeting Point: Trooperstown Forest car park (located on the R755 Road between Annamoe and Laragh, Wicklow.

Meeting Time: 11am

Finish time: Approx. 1pm
