A search for ancestors in Avoca

Seeking local information - Can you help?

By Irelandtourguide DN

Hi

I am a tour guide, born and brought up in Wicklow, and a lot of my tours bring visitors down to this beautiful county. In June I am bringing a family from the US who are seeking to find out more about their ancestors who were based in the Avoca area, and are buried in Castlemacadam. This is their "wish list"

"We are particularly interested in Joseph Watson, Thomas Watson and John Hill. We want to spend time in the Vale of Avoca, seeing tombstones, church ruins and the farm owned by Greene's which is near the church ruins we are told"

Can anyone with local knowledge of this area give me any further information, please? We are going to be down here on 19 & 20th June and would love to meet any local historian with knowledge of these families and the history of Castlemacadam parish area.

Many thanks
